About the Artist Oil Paintings Built by Hand, Layer by Layer
Lauren Sherwood is an oil painter based in the Texas Panhandle, known for her palette knife technique and richly textured compositions. Trained by a Belgian artist at just fourteen, she has spent years refining a process built entirely from primary colors, mixed, layered, and shaped by hand.
Her work is rooted in the belief that God is the true artist, and that her role is one of interpretation rather than creation. Each painting is an attempt to reflect the beauty already present in the world, through movement, color, and intentional imperfection.
A mother of two and a lifelong artist, Lauren paints from her studio in West Texas, finding inspiration in both the quiet rhythms of family life and the vast openness of the Panhandle landscape.
